Here’s a good look at ‘Sabrina’ – Google’s new Android TV powered Chromecast and remote

The upcoming announcement of Google hardware will include a new Chromecast Google has confirmed, and it’s pretty certain it’s the ‘Sabrina’ dongle we’ve been seeing leaked for months. Now Roland Quandt from WinFuture.de has nabbed images of the device and the new remote as well.

The dongle itself isn’t anything new as we’ve seen it quite extensively previously. It’s a rounded off rectangular shape with a fixed HDMI cable. There’s likely a USB-C port at the base and there’s definitely some sort of sync button on the back. Overall though it’s a good looking (and compact) unit, perfect for hiding away behind your TV.

You may not want to hide it though if the new remote Google will be delivering with it needs to see the device. The remote hasn’t been featured as heavily as the dongle previously but looks very useful, and is a feature Chromecast users have requested for years – ever lost a Chromecast stream?

The design is basic with a simple D-Pad at the top for direction, with back, Assistant, home, and mute buttons. Looks like Google is making friends including a Netflix button alongside a YouTube button for fast access to your content on either platform. Lastly there’s a power button and what appears to be a power button and input switcher. You also get a volume rocker on the side which seems nicely placed.

We’ll see more on the ‘Sabrina’ Android TV dongle – and likely a new bit of branding as Google TV as well when the ‘Made by Google’ 2020 event kicks off at 11am PT in the US on September 30th.
