Before the HTC G1, or Dream as it was more commonly known around the world, launched in 2008 as the world’s first Android phone, there was actually another Android phone – the HTC Exca 300.

Google launched the Android operating system for phones back in 2007, and as a new OS, it needed a phone to show off to developers to hopefully get them on board to build apps before their big launch the following year. That phone was the HTC Exca 300.

Never released to the public, Google seems to have handed these out to developers at events. The specs are extremely low by todays standards:

  • 2.4-inch (320×240) (non touch) display
  • TI OMAP 850 processor
  • 64MB RAM (yes, that’s MB)
  • 64MB of on-board storage – don’t worry it supports mini-SD (not micro) cards
  • 1.3MP Camera
  • 2G only
  • Wi-fi? No
  • QWERTY Keyboard.
