Google Pixel 5 in Green will be called ‘Sorta Sage’ and other tidbits

The ‘Launch Night In’ event tonight – 11am PT – will see the official unveil of the Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, a new Chromecast (which is already on-sale in the US) and Nest Audio smart speaker. There’s been loads of details leaked, but there’s still more to be found.

The green colourway for the Pixel 5 – which looks awesome – has been given a name by Roland Quandt of WinFuture.de, who called it ‘Sorta Sage’. The tweet from Quandt also confirmed the phone will have a rear ‘made from 100% recycled aluminium, Corning Corilla (sic) Glass 6 cover glass”.

The use of aluminium on the rear could hamper wireless charging with Qi not able to work through a metal panel. Qualcomm initially launched investigations into wireless charging through metal – called WiPower – years ago, but appears to have abandoned their research.

There’s not a lot of time to go until we see the launch, so hold onto your hats.

What are you excited for tonight?
