For a phone that was supposed to launch at the now cancelled Google I/O back in May, the Pixel 4a sure has taken a while to break cover officially. Today is the day though and the Pixel 4a is official, with pre-orders now live for $349 USD in the U.S, UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Japan, Canada.
The Pixel 4a has a great list of specs, though it’s an entry level device in the Google 2020 lineup. Google has also confirmed that the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 also exist – both with 5G – and will come later ‘this Spring/Autumn’ (depending on which hemisphere).
As people found out last year with the Pixel 3a series, the big attraction of the ‘a’ series is the camera which contains all the Pixel goodies like ‘HDR+ with dual exposure controls, Portrait Mode, Top Shot, Night Sight with Astrophotography capabilities and fused video stabilisation’.
The Pixel 4a ships with Android 10, but will get Android 11 when it launches later this year. You’ll also get 3 years (Minimum) of feature (Android R etc.) and security (monthly) updates for the Pixel 4a.
The Pixel 4a has all the features like Recorder, Live Transcribe and Google Assistant on board, and will be in line for new features as they’re announced.
